    The placement firm is not RETAINED by the employer to fill the job, they just see the job online, find resumes, and submit them to the employer, and hope to make money off of the transaction. Reputable agencies are retained (paid) by companies to fill a role. Dont ONLY rely on Monster. Use careerbuilder and every other website you can find in your field and geographic area. Also, research companies that do your type of work, and apply directly. We are in a recession, competition is fierce. An employer will not want to PAY for a resume they easily find sitting on monster.com. So do not send these agencies your resume…, instead send directly to the employer. Follow up with a phone call. You should be applying to no less than 10 to 30 companies daily. Good Luck.
